Swiss Inheritance Tax Calculator
Introduction
This tool provides a simple estimate of inheritance tax in Switzerland. You choose:
-
a canton,
-
your relationship to the deceased (spouse, child/grandchild, parent, sibling, etc.),
-
and the gross inheritance amount in Swiss francs (CHF).
The calculator then applies canton-specific rates to compute an estimated tax due. It shows a midpoint if the canton gives a range (for example 4–16%), along with the minimum and maximum possible tax, and the effective tax rate on the gross amount.
Note: It does not take into account deductions, allowances, municipal surcharges, or more detailed valuation or progressive bracket nuances.

Assumptions: If a canton publishes a range (e.g., 4–16%), we show a midpoint estimate and a min–max range. This simple tool ignores allowances, municipal surcharges, valuation nuances, and progressive brackets inside ranges. For precise planning and filings, please contact us.
