We support investors, asset managers and family offices with Taxe sur les transferts de biens immobiliers (Grunderwerbsteuer) on acquisitions and restructurings, and with ongoing Property Tax (Grundsteuer) administration, notices and appeals.

Scope of our German Property Tax Services

  • RETT advisory: Asset/share deal analysis (thresholds, partner changes), group reorganizations, exemptions, SPA/notary language review, post-closing checks.
  • Grundsteuer administration: Property registrations/changes, assessment monitoring, objection management (appeals), and a calendar for deadlines and payments.
  • Cross-border alignment (optional): Basis tracking, DE–US timing and documentation, evidence packs for credits and disclosures.

Note: RETT filings are typically submitted by the notary in Germany. Our role focuses on structuring, documentation, and review to achieve the intended outcome.

Do you file the RETT return?
In Germany the notary typically files the RETT return. We focus on structuring, clause language and documentation to achieve the intended tax outcome, and we review the filing/assessment.
Can you manage ongoing property-tax admin for a portfolio?
Yes. Our portfolio admin package includes a calendar of deadlines, monitoring of notices and payments, and processing of changes across municipalities.
Is valuation work included?
Valuation work is not part of this page’s packages. If a valuation is relevant for another tax (e.g., inheritance/gift) or for an objection, we can scope it separately. See our Valuation Services.
