Glarus Wealth Tax Calculator
Glarus Wealth Tax Calculator 2025
Estimate your annual wealth tax in the Canton of Glarus — combine cantonal allowances, the simple wealth tax and municipal Steuerfüsse (Glarus, Glarus Nord, Glarus Süd).
Glarus levies wealth tax on your taxable net wealth as at 31 December. Taxable net wealth is your worldwide assets (for residents) minus deductible debts and tax-free amounts (allowances). The canton applies a simple wealth tax which is then multiplied by the cantonal and municipal Steuerfüsse.
This calculator uses the 2025 Glarus allowances (approx. CHF 77,300 for single taxpayers and CHF 154,600 for jointly taxed spouses / qualifying single parents) and an indicative simple wealth tax rate of around 0.18 % on taxable wealth. It is designed for planning and comparison only and does not replace the official Glarus tax calculator.
Net Wealth − Personal Allowance = Taxable Wealth
Simple Cantonal Wealth Tax ≈ Taxable Wealth × 0.18 %
Total Wealth Tax (cantonal + municipal, excl. church) ≈ Simple Tax × (1 + Municipal Steuerfuss)
Example: A municipal Steuerfuss of 0.60 means total wealth tax ≈ 1.60 × simple cantonal tax (church tax, if applicable, comes on top).
Interactive Calculator
Enter your net wealth (assets minus debts) and select your filing status and an indicative municipal Steuerfuss. The model focuses on typical Glarus wealth levels where combined effective rates are around 0.29–0.34 % at CHF 1–5 million of taxable wealth (excluding church tax).
Example Scenarios
Example A — Single, Net Wealth CHF 1,000,000, Municipal Steuerfuss 0.56 (Glarus)
Net wealth CHF 1,000,000.
Personal allowance (single) ≈ CHF 77,300 → taxable wealth ≈ CHF 922,700.
Simple cantonal wealth tax ≈ 0.18 % → ≈ CHF 1,661.
Municipal Steuerfuss 0.56 → total wealth tax ≈ 1.56 × CHF 1,661 ≈ CHF 2,590
(effective rate ≈ 0.26 % of net wealth, excluding church tax).
Example B — Married, Net Wealth CHF 3,000,000, Municipal Steuerfuss 0.63 (Glarus Süd)
Net wealth CHF 3,000,000.
Personal allowance (married / joint) ≈ CHF 154,600 → taxable wealth ≈ CHF 2,845,400.
Simple cantonal wealth tax ≈ 0.18 % → ≈ CHF 5,122.
Municipal Steuerfuss 0.63 → total wealth tax ≈ 1.63 × CHF 5,122 ≈ CHF 8,350
(effective rate ≈ 0.28 % of net wealth, excluding church tax).
